Draco 2 (first builds and checking out new synergies)
Draco chapter 2 has landed and we're all having fun working out the mechanics and possible synergies.
In today's article I will share my first two attempts at palette building; one Chroma and one Achrom.
I will also talk through some of my thoughts on the cards and synergies.
This is just my first attempt with these cards so I am bound to make many changes. Please share your opinions on my builds and article either in the comments below or on the discord.
These are my two Legendaries for my palettes. I love the concept of having God's in the game. Both of these strike me both visually and with their abilities.
Hularla having a massive +4 makes it only a 2 cost. It's a location that becomes a strong character on your turn to attack and can FREEZE a cards resolve once per turn.
Mist Morgana standard -2 but with the magic of taking away another cards ability and forcing them to attack is a super exciting prospect.
Both of my palettes have Harusk as one of their rares. With +2 she only costs 1 and her action can FREEZE all cards on other canvases. This practically gives you a free turn to win or to turn the game around.
I think it was Lewis from Achroma.tools who I saw first mention that Materno's egg from chapter 1 is a great way of finding and playing Harusk when needed without paying any more shards from if you just drew her.
Let's look at the chroma build:
So a few things are going on here that I will brake down. I can see that there's not to many characters and most of them don't fit into my main plans with this build so will revisit that after a few games.
First to look at these two rares. Slayscorch Pools gives a +2 every time FREEZE is used, so I have a lot of FREEZE in the deck. I wish their was a way to find or reveal locations to be able to draw this card more consistently.
If both Pools and Snowdrift Sanctuary are out, then Sanctuary is freezing two cards at once giving you a +4 , and then their combined +5 resolve.
Also if Harusk freezes all other cards you can potentially get a game winning boost of shards. Plus many other ways of freezing are in here.
My other game plan here is based around these four cards.
Chromatic voyager is basically the character version of Spirata's Blueprint swirl. So you want all 6 colours on your canvas for +6, but getting at least +4 each resolve is still pretty consistent.
Ice falls is even better, +1 for each card with Cyan, which most of the cards in the build have. Chroma storehouse's and Chroma Overflow's actions will give a big boost of shards, usually by also choosing cyan!
Now let's look at Achrom!
I went with some of the familiar Achrom cards; Cintamani Stone, Peorth & Haim Shard Cache. So like most Achrom builds I want alot of black shards on the canvas, I could easily transform this into my new Achrom Breach build to be fair.
Im putting alot of hunt into this palette. A fun new mechanic. There is maybe more chroma options with hunt but still goods ones here.
Tactical Ambush is an amazing action to have in a hunt deck: 'Resolve all active HUNT effects on your canvas immediately'.
The weaknesses of HUNT is that you need to wait until your next turn, it is a prolonged effect which can be canceled by taking the hunter or hunted of the canvas. But tactical Ambush makes the abilities immediate! Very strong.
At first I wanted to try a Drake deck with the new drakes that we got in this new chapter. And I know other people would have created good strong ones.
I had a few test games and I was having the same struggles as I had in chapter 1. By the time Achrom haven is out, I need at least two drakes out to make it half decent. And the amount of shards needed to play these cards puts me super low. How do you play drakes?
